After nearly 100 years of international Michelin star history – and 20 years of Michelin star rankings in the United States – a handful of Philadelphia restaurants have now been named among some of the best in the food world. On Nov. 18, three Philadelphia fine-dining restaurants were awarded one Michelin star. Though the city has built a reputation for dynamic chef-driven dining, this marks the first time its restaurants have been recognized alongside the top kitchens in the country. Below are the three establishments that earned a coveted star.

Friday Saturday Sunday

Run by husband-and-wife duo Chef Chad Williams and Hanna Williams, Friday Saturday Sunday was one of the three Philadelphia restaurants to earn a Michelin star. Located at 261 S. 21st St., the restaurant offers a contemporary American menu that emphasizes seasonal ingredients and creative flavor combinations. Known for its warm, inviting atmosphere and meticulous attention to detail, Friday Saturday Sunday has become a favorite for diners seeking a modern take on classic American cuisine. Its recognition by Michelin not only highlights the Williams’ culinary talent but also sets the standard for the best fine dining in Philadelphia.

Provenance

Located in historic Philadelphia at 408 S. 2nd St., the contemporary restaurant Provenance highlights an eclectic side of the city’s dining scene. Run by Chef Nicholas Bazik, Provenance brings subtle Korean influence to classic French cuisine to create a four-course, seafood-focused tasting menu made up of 20 to 25 dishes, offering guests a refined and immersive dining experience. Its bold approach to blending these culinary traditions sets Provenance apart and helps cement its place among Philadelphia’s most distinctive fine-dining destinations.

Her Place Supper Club

This European-contemporary–influenced establishment, run by Chef Amanda Shulman, strikes the perfect balance between cozy and thoughtful. Located at 1740 Sansom St., Her Place Supper Club is described by the Michelin Guide as having a “communal feel,” with every guest in the room served at the same time as the dish is explained. The restaurant’s own site captures its personality well: “Her Place is kind of like a restaurant but kind of like a dinner party.” With only 48 seats available on weeknights during set times, guests are treated to Shulman’s French and Italian-inspired cuisine in an intimate setting that feels both personal and elevated. Her Place Supper Club’s Michelin star recognition solidifies its place as one of the most distinctive dining experiences in Philadelphia.

Along with these three fine dining experiences, ten restaurants received a Bib Gourmand award, and one received a Green Star. The Bib Gourmand is an award for “recognizing restaurants that serve high-quality food at great value.” The ten restaurants include:

  • Angelo’s
  • Dalessandro’s Steaks and Hoagies
  • Del Rossi’s Cheesesteak & Pizza Co.
  • Dizengoff
  • El Chingón
  • Fiorella
  • Famous 4th Street Delicatessen
  • Pizzeria Beddia
  • Royal Sushi & Izakaya
  • Sally

The Green Star recognizes restaurants that take part in eco-friendly practices, with Pietramala being the only Philadelphia restaurant to receive the award.

Philadelphia’s long-awaited debut in the Michelin Guide marks an exciting new chapter for the city’s dining scene. With three newly awarded Michelin-star restaurants, ten Bib Gourmand spots, and its first Green Star, Philly is officially on the world’s culinary map.
