To start Homecoming weekend off strong, Drexel’s Women’s basketball team upset Stony Brook 49-41 on Friday, Jan. 23rd. The victory put the Dragons at 10-7 on the season and 3-3 in CAA play.

Drexel started the game strong, going on a 10-0 run in the first half, and leading the entire game. Junior forward Deja Evans led the team with 13 points, followed closely behind by Amaris Baker and Laine McGurk, who each contributed 12 points. Both Baker and McGurk played 36 minutes, leading the team. Overall, the team shot 6-6 on the free throw line.

On the defensive side, the team only allowed Stony Brook to score two points in the second half. Evans had nine blocks, five offensive rebounds, and four defensive rebounds. The Seawolves shot 5-18 at the three-point line.

At the time of publication, Drexel sits in 6th place in the CAA conference. Due to the incoming inclement weather, the team will play Towson tomorrow, Jan. 24th, at 6 pm at the DAC, following the men’s team’s homecoming game against Northeastern.
